Rules & Consequences

Every year, I like to look at the classroom rules as rules that we have established as a team. Input from the students is critical to establish personal commitment. The classroom rules are meant to benefit everyone, not just the teacher. Although, every year I have different students, I lead them in creating these rules (or some version of them) to establish consistency.

I will send a copy of this home to you on the first day of school. Students will be expected to sign the bottom of our classrooms rules as a contract between us, to hold each student (and myself) responsible for understanding and upholding expectations.

Rules:

  1. Work as a Team
  2. Be Responsible
  3. Listen to Others
  4. Be Respectful to Everyone
  5. Be Kind and Helpful
  6. Do Your Best

Consequences:

  1. All students start on "Green"
  2. Students that move up to "Red" 5 times within a month get to choose from the treasure box
  3. Students that reach #2 ^ two months in a row receive a new book
  4. Students that reach "Purple" will be reprimanded in class (stay in from recess, time out)
  5. Students that reach "Pink" get a pink slip that is required to be signed by a parent
  6. Students that reach "Pink" twice or more in a week will require a meeting (phone or in person) with the parent

Establishing a relationship between the classroom and the home is one of my greatest goals.
